Cancellation and refunds

This summary should be read with the Terms of Service and your quotation. It does not reduce any statutory rights.
Consumer cancellation period
If you are an individual buying mainly for personal purposes, you normally have 14 days from accepting the quotation to cancel without giving a reason.
If you expressly ask HLD to start during that period and later cancel, you must pay a proportionate amount for work supplied and non-recoverable external costs already incurred or irrevocably committed. If the service is completed in full during that period after the required request and acknowledgement, the cancellation right ends when the service is fully performed.
Business customers
Business customers may cancel by contacting HLD. They remain responsible for work completed and external costs already incurred or irrevocably committed. Any advance balance for work not performed or costs not incurred will be refunded.
How to cancel

If an authority refuses your request
Authorities control their decisions and may refuse without giving reasons. HLD will share the outcome and any reasons it receives and is permitted to disclose. HLD cannot guarantee approval, an explanation or reversal.
Refusal alone does not mean that properly performed HLD services are refundable. Government, embassy and other external fees paid or irrevocably committed with your authority remain payable where the recipient does not refund them. HLD will pass on any refund attributable to your case and refund advance payments for work not performed or external costs not incurred or committed, subject to your statutory rights.
Your rights where HLD is at fault, fails to use reasonable care and skill or breaches the contract remain unaffected, as do your statutory cancellation rights.
Refund calculation
Refunds reflect work completed and costs actually incurred. Government, embassy, consular, notarial, courier and other external charges are refundable only if the recipient returns them or they have not yet been incurred or committed. HLD will explain the calculation on request.
